Details Regarding Next Episode and Engine Talk

Salutations! Squid Girl World has been quiet. I know.

Admittedly, I've always been under the assumption no one reads or cares about Squid Girl Word, but I know this isn't true. It is liked by a small amount of people, and truly, you all understand me.. Because Squid Girl World is made in such a way that it is meant to appeal to like 5 people lol.

I apologize for my lack of communications due to focusing on works that will bring in Numbers... I actually wrote EP2 and had a friend beta read it many months ago haha. I even started putting it in various engines.

There are some reasons it's taken me so long though. I've always imagined Squid Girl World being primarily web based- ie similar to an online comic hosted on Smackjeeves but in visual novel format. I had a few engines I've played around with, but their limitations annoyed me quite a bit. I've even considered writing it in pure JavaScript...

But um, I did start testing that concept with various raw JS projects. It's actually pretty easy to make stuff in raw JS if you're making it primarily for your own work. I'd still be able to upload it to itchio if you are worried about that though hosting it on its own site sounds fun too. Admittedly, I am not sure if Squid Girl World belongs on itchio for a variety of reasons, but I still intend to post it here due to this being where every gay gamer looking for free games is. As I said earlier, Squid Girl World is a very niche work, so I need to not shoot myself in the foot by taking it off of Itchio, especially because I've done this before lol.

I actually.. was hesitant to ever host it anywhere beside itchio, but I recently saw Squid Girl World hosted on another site without my permission (it's chill I don't care that much). My lack of reaction made me realize I actually.. am pretty indifferent to having access to itchio analytics and don't care if Squid Girl World is posted elsewhere.

Anyway, that is to say- I mainly here to establish that Squid Girl World will be continued, and I have various scraps for it written. It's just an experimental thing you know..

It may get its own engine or be written with JavaScript libraries. I don't know yet. I've tried basically every visual novel engine aimed at the web, and each time I found myself dissatisfied (though the engines were all quite fantastic). It's very hard having a clear vision for things you love and having just enough program knowledge to know that it's truly not that deep.. Putting off making them becomes easy also when they're aimed at a small audience of people haha.
